Ulugh 0.9 (beta version): What's new?

1. Version for Blackberry Storm with touchscreen functions

Ulugh 0.9 (Beta version) is now also available for the newest model of the Blackberry family, the Blackberry 9530 or Storm, and it uses all the functions of its touchscreen. Moving the maps, activating a route, open the documentation related to a Point of Interest on the route, everything can be done with a simple touch on the screen.

2. Versions in ES and NL

When you install Ulugh 9.0 on your Blackberry, you can choose to configure it in English (EN), Spanish (ES) or Dutch (NL). Other languages will follow shortly.

3. Search on ID, Keywords or Locations and downloadfunction

The most important innovation to Ulugh 0.9 is undoubtly the search engine and direct download function of routes on your Blackberry. From the main menu you can access the search form. With this form you can search for routes on keywords or locations, browse through the search results, read a short description of the routes and download one or several routes directly without connection to your PC. Thanks to the agreement with Routeyou, the major european social network for online routes, Ulugh 0.9 searches their database with several tens of thousands of routes in the whole world. If you know the Routeyou route ID, you can even put it into the ID search field in the search form and you will have direct access to the route. Ulugh invites you to create and share your routes on Routeyou

4. POI alert Improvement

The previous version of Ulugh had sometimes some trouble with the volume of the sound alert when you approached a Point of Interest. The new Ulugh 0.9 resolved this problem and added the vibration function to it, which means that when you're following a route on Ulugh and you are approaching a Point of Interest on the route, Ulugh will warn you with a sound alert and a short vibration of the mobile device.

5. POI icons

In the new Ulugh version, every point of interest on a route is marked with an icon that indicates its category. With a simple quick look you'll see what you can expect on your route: museums, monuments, curches, monasteries, castles, restaurants, bars, parcs, etc. The icons are also shown in the route summary, an option you can access from the route list.

6. Access tot the POI information through its icon

Ulug 0.9 gives you direct access to the documentation linked to a point of interest from the map view. With the version for Blackberry Storm, you simply touch the icon on your screen and the documentation will appear on the screen. For the versions for Blackberry with trackball, you just have to move the icon to the litlle cross in the centre of the screen and confirm clicking the trackball.

7. Import Folder for PC connection

We've created a specific folder to make it easier to copy a KML file from your PC to Ulugh. When you connect your Blackberry to your PC you'll find a folder called "import" inside the "ulugh" folder. You just have to copy your KML file into this folder and the route will be included in the route list of Ulugh. While your Blackberry is connected to your PC, Ulugh will be temporary disabled.

8. Delete Routes

In the submenu of the list of routes we've included a button that permits you deleting a certain route directly from your mobile device.

9. Moving the maps

Moving the maps in Ulugh 0.9 has been improved and works faster.

10. Open Street Map

Ulugh is one of the first applications for mobile devices that includes the maps of the Open Street Map project, a project for creation of a free editable map of the world. You can access the maps of the Open Street Map project through the layers button in the main menu
